Free Tendon Graft in the "No Man¢¥s Land"

Abstract
The authors reviewed 7 cases of flexor tendon injuries in the "no man¢¥s land" which were treated by free graft in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Taegu Presbyterian Hospital for 3 years from Jan. 1975 to Dec. 1977.
The result obtained were as follows;
1. Sex ratio between male and female was 5 : 2 and the most frequency of digit injury was middle finger (57%).
2. Most of the patienst were injured by glass or knife (71%) and at the level of proximal phalanx (57%).
3. Mono digit was injured in 6 of 7 cases and both flexor tendons were servered in the 6 of 7 cases and in the other one, profundus was severed and sublimis was partially severed.
4. The proximal portion of severed sublimis of affected finger in the 5 cases and palmaris longus in the 2 cases were used as donor at flexor tendon graft.
5. Average follow-up period was 8 months and over all end result was satisfactory in 6 of 7 cases by the Boyes and Stark criteria and a poor case in the result was believed to be caused by adhesion.
